Né le 8 fructidor an X à Lille (Nord)
Il débute comme cinquième clerc dans l'étude Castel (CVI) en 1825 où il reste jusqu'en 1831. Il rejoint alors l'étude de maître Chrestien, dont il devient le premier clerc avant de lui succéder
